Rhythm of Life Quarterly Newsletter
Celebrating progress in healthcare accessibility, education, economic empowerment and community engagement.
Greetings from Rhythm of Life
We are delighted to welcome you to our second-quarter newsletter for 2026. It brings us great joy to share exciting updates and milestones from our work.
We remain deeply grateful for your unwavering support of our mission to empower women and girls in vulnerable communities in Kampala and Wakiso, particularly Kabalagala and Kajjansi.
Through our three core pillars—healthcare accessibility, education and economic empowerment—we continue creating pathways for lasting change and transformation.
Healthcare Accessibility
Supporting safer motherhood, mental well-being and menstrual dignity.
Maternal Health and Childcare Project
Funding constraints meant that we were unable to provide direct financial support for delivery costs during the quarter. However, through our partnership with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), we supported expectant mothers with Mama Kits to help them prepare for safe and hygienic deliveries.
A total of 11 pregnant mothers received Mama Kits. Each mother also received a food-support package of UGX 100,000 through mobile money. We are grateful to our partners for helping improve access to essential maternal-health supplies.
Support Meetings and Counselling
During the quarter, we held a support and counselling meeting for expectant mothers and women who had recently given birth. Thirty-five women attended.
A dedicated team from St. Magdalene Hospital facilitated educational sessions on antenatal care, proper nutrition during pregnancy, personal hygiene, infection prevention and management, and the importance of delivering at a health facility.
A team from Jesuit Refugee Service also conducted a mental-health session. Women were encouraged to speak openly about their experiences and seek support during stressful periods. The session emphasised the importance of discussing emotional challenges to promote well-being and prevent more serious mental-health concerns.
Menstrual Hygiene
This quarter, we joined the world in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day. We believe that every girl deserves access to safe menstrual products, accurate education and the confidence to manage her period with dignity.
Together, we continue working to break menstrual stigma, end period poverty and promote access to menstrual-health education—one girl at a time.
Education
Helping girls and young women remain in school and pursue their dreams.
Her Tomorrow Project—Girls Sponsorship Programme
We continue to invest in girls’ education and ensure that every learner has an opportunity to thrive. During the quarter, learners in Kanungu resumed Term Two with the required scholastic materials and were reported to be in good health.
We currently support 23 learners. The beneficiaries highlighted this quarter include four learners at St. Theresa Calcutta Girls College and seven primary learners at St. John Baptist Primary and Nursery School.
We are also proud to support two young women pursuing vocational education. Aisha is studying Early Childhood Teaching and began Term Two of her second year. Brenda is pursuing Nursing and Midwifery and was completing the second semester of her second year, with course completion expected in December 2026.
Some of the girls supported through the sponsorship programme.
A Call for Support
Help Zawede complete her nursing journey
Zawede, a dedicated student at Access School of Nursing, is only one semester away from becoming a qualified nurse. Through the support of Rhythm of Life, she has made remarkable progress. However, limited funding brought her sponsorship to an end before she could complete her final semester.
US$950 neededYour support toward her remaining tuition will help transform her future and enable her to serve and care for many others in our communities.

School Outreach
We successfully conducted a school outreach session at St. John Baptist Primary School, bringing girls together for an engaging discussion on self-esteem, confidence and leadership.
Through interactive discussions and positive-affirmation exercises, participants were encouraged to recognise their self-worth, believe in their abilities and embrace leadership in everyday life.

Makarios Junior School—Early Childhood Development
Our Early Childhood Development programme at Makarios Junior School continues to prioritise a holistic and supportive environment for children. This term, learners joined the boarding section to provide a more stable setting that responds to their developmental and educational needs, particularly those of the two younger boys.
We remain committed to nurturing children academically, emotionally and socially.
Economic Empowerment
Building practical skills, entrepreneurship and financial resilience.
Cohort 5—Fashion and Design Training Programme
The fifth cohort of our Fashion and Design Programme began on 2 May 2026 and successfully concluded in June 2026.
Participants gained practical tailoring skills and learned to produce garments from sketch to completion. Their final projects included shorts, dresses, T-shirts, shirts and trousers.
The women also gained skills in jewellery making, bag making and basic financial literacy, equipping them with practical knowledge for income generation and entrepreneurship.
A graduation ceremony was scheduled for 11 July 2026 to celebrate their dedication, hard work and achievements.
SACCO Savings
Our SACCO groups continue to operate successfully. Despite ongoing financial challenges, women remain committed to saving consistently at the end of every month.
Their discipline demonstrates resilience and continues to strengthen financial independence.
Community Engagement
Joining wider movements for kindness, health, dignity and children’s rights.
Good Deeds Day
Our team joined Uganda in celebrating the eighth National Good Deeds Day. The event began with a vibrant brass-band procession in Namugongo, creating an uplifting atmosphere for a meaningful day.
Communities, partners and stakeholders came together to promote kindness and positive action. Children showcased their talents, while participants took part in activities including:
- Blood donation
- Tree planting
- Community engagement initiatives
These activities demonstrated the power of collective responsibility in building healthier and more sustainable communities.
Day of the African Child 2026
We commemorated the Day of the African Child by sharing meaningful information on our social-media platforms.
Every child deserves access to:
- Clean water
- Proper sanitation
- Good hygiene
Access to WASH—Water, Sanitation and Hygiene—is not a privilege; it is a right. Together, we can build communities where every child can learn, grow and thrive.
Capacity Building
Connecting with young leaders and strengthening collaborative action.
One Young World Launch in Uganda
Our Team Lead, Ms. Harriet, attended the launch of One Young World Uganda at Serena Hotel in May.
The event brought together young leaders and changemakers for engaging discussions and activities focused on what becomes possible when young people unite around a shared vision and purpose.
The experience reinforced the importance of collaboration, leadership and collective action in creating sustainable community impact.
